Greenbank RSL Sub Branch is part of the South Eastern District of RSL Queensland. It supports veterans, current ADF members, and families across the wider Logan region. Its work includes welfare, pensions assistance, wellbeing programs, and strong community engagement.

Who is a Veteran?

In Australia, a ‘veteran means a person who has served, or is serving, as a member
of the Permanent Forces or as a member of the Reserves’. This definition is found in
the Australian Veterans’ Recognition (Putting Veterans and Their Families First) Act
2019. The extent of this definition provides for any person who has served in the
Australian Defence Force (ADF), which includes the Navy, Army and Air Force. It
ensures that every person who has served in the ADF is recognised as a veteran,
whether their ‘defence service means warlike service, non warlike service or
peacetime service.

What is the Role of a Sub-Branch within RSL?

 

 

  • RSL Sub-Branch: The local, community-level RSL organisation. It is usually volunteer-run and focuses on veteran welfare, advocacy, camaraderie, commemorative services (ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day), and support for veterans and their families. It is often the first point of contact for veterans seeking assistance. 

 

  • State RSL (State Branch): The state-level governing body, RSL Queensland, It provides oversight, governance, policy direction, advocacy, programs, training, and support to the Sub-Branches within that state. Each State Branch operates independently within the national RSL federation
